Best-Selling Fragrances: The Scents Our Customers Love

SoJan Shop| 8 min read
TAMBURINS Perfume Chamo 50ml, our best-selling fragrance

Nine bottles, three cities, and the scents our customers keep coming back for.

Looking for your next signature scent? Choosing a fragrance online is mostly an act of faith. You read the notes, you look at the bottle, and you hope. So rather than tell you what we think you should want, we went and looked at what our customers have actually been ordering, brand by brand.

What came back was a clear shortlist: a handful of scents that move faster than everything else on our shelves, plus two or three quietly building a serious following. Below is the honest version, including which ones are getting hard to secure at all.

TAMBURINS, sourced in Seoul

TAMBURINS sits inside the Gentle Monster universe, which tells you most of what you need to know about the aesthetic. The scents are herbal, cool and a little architectural, and the brand has become one of the most sought-after fragrance houses in K-beauty. Nothing in the range smells like a department store.

TAMBURINS Perfume Chamo 50ml bottle

TAMBURINS Chamo

Chamo is our single most-ordered fragrance of the past twelve months, across every brand we carry, and it is not close. That is not a soft claim about vibes, it is the order data.

It is built on chamomile and clary sage, but not in the way that sounds. There is no tea-like sweetness here. The chamomile reads as dried herb, the clary sage brings a bitter-green edge, and a cool mineral middle of water and cypriol keeps it from ever turning cosy. Amber, musk and blond wood settle it close to the skin.

The effect is calm and slightly severe, which is exactly why people keep coming back to it. If you have been hunting for something that is not a floral and not a vanilla, this is the one we point you to first, every time.

TAMBURINS Perfume Chamo 11ml travel size bottle

SoJan tip: Chamo also comes in an 11ml, and it is very nearly as popular with our customers as the full bottle. If you are buying a Korean fragrance unsniffed, start there. A small bottle you love beats a large one you are unsure about, and the 11ml fits a coat pocket.

TAMBURINS Perfume Summer Tails 50ml bottle

TAMBURINS Summer Tails

Summer Tails is the one that has become genuinely difficult to get. It has sold out at TAMBURINS stores across Korea and Japan, and our personal shoppers secured a limited allocation for SoJan on the last trip. When this run goes, the next one waits for the next trip.

It earns the attention. This is a woody floral musk built around the turn of a season. Pale green leaf and anise open it, cool and faintly wild. The heart is a dewy lily of the valley with geranium, and then cedarwood, patchouli and musk pull it into something quieter and almost leather-like on the skin.

It is the more romantic of the two TAMBURINS scents, where Chamo is the more austere. If it has been sitting on your wishlist, this is the moment.

Our TAMBURINS favourites: Chamo for the herbal, cool one that everyone asks about, and Summer Tails for a white floral with a woody finish, while we still have it.

SHIRO, sourced in Tokyo

SHIRO is the most wearable house on this list and the least interested in being noticed, which is precisely why it has such a devoted following in Japan and well beyond it. Clean, soft, precise. The brand uses distilled yuzu water from Tokushima in place of plain water in its fragrances, a small technical decision you can genuinely smell in how softly the compositions sit on skin.

SHIRO Freesia Mist Eau De Parfum bottle

SHIRO Freesia Mist

If one SHIRO fragrance consistently stands out, it is Freesia Mist. It is our best-selling SHIRO scent, it is a signature of the house in Japan, and it is the one to start with if the brand is new to you.

Apple, apricot and bergamot open it, green notes, rose and peach fill the middle, and white florals and musk take it out. Official wear time is around five to six hours, which is honest for something this light. It is a fruity floral that manages not to read as young, a harder trick than it sounds.

SHIRO Savon Body Cologne 22 bottle

SHIRO Savon

Savon is the scent SHIRO is famous for, the most recognisable fragrance in the house, and this is the Body Cologne 22 version rather than the eau de parfum. That distinction matters: the cologne is a finer mist designed to sit as a translucent veil over skin, lighter and less insistent than the parfum.

It smells like good soap and clean linen, and very little else. If you want to smell washed rather than perfumed, buy this one and stop reading.

SHIRO White Tea Eau De Parfum 40ml bottle

SHIRO White Tea

White Tea is Savon's softer relative and another customer favourite. Bergamot opens it clean and bright, then a delicate tea sweetness takes over. It is the most understated thing in this entire edit, and the one customers reach for when they want a fragrance for the office, or for days when they would rather not arrive before they do.

Our SHIRO favourites: Freesia Mist for a first SHIRO, Savon for clean soap and linen, and White Tea for the quietest option here.

TO SUMMER, sourced in Shanghai and Beijing

TO SUMMER is the house most people have not heard of yet, and the one our team is most excited about. It is a Chinese perfumery working in an Eastern Essence idiom, with named perfumers and unhurried compositions. If your taste runs to niche fragrance rather than designer, this is where to look next.

TO SUMMER Osmanthus Eau de Parfum bottle

TO SUMMER Osmanthus

Osmanthus is a long-standing customer favourite and one of the two TO SUMMER bottles that leaves us most often. Perfumer David Huang spent three years and more than a hundred formulation iterations on it, which is an unusual amount of patience for a floral.

Golden osmanthus absolute sits at the centre, with bigarade, white peach and green notes above it, and May rose, jasmine and violet through the heart. Amber and white musk close it. It is soft and skin-close rather than declarative, and it holds the feeling of osmanthus trees in bloom without ever tipping into apricot jam. Elegant, understated, and very easy to wear every day.

TO SUMMER Rambler Rose Eau de Parfum bottle

TO SUMMER Rambler Rose

Rambler Rose is the newest of the three and it is gaining real attention, particularly from customers who want a floral with a more refined edge. Jérôme Epinette shaped it as a rose with lift and movement rather than the dense, syrupy kind, and you can tell within about ten seconds of wearing it.

Bergamot and passion fruit open bright, then centifolia rose, jasmine, green tea and pink peony take over, before crisp amber, skin musk and blond woods settle underneath. For anyone who has written off rose fragrances as heavy, this is the argument against that.

TO SUMMER Triple Tea Eau de Parfum bottle

TO SUMMER Triple Tea

Triple Tea matches Osmanthus for how often it goes out, and it is the more unusual of the pair. The idea is tea in three states: the clean bitterness of mate and green tea up top, sharpened with lemon verbena, then black tea giving depth while violet and jasmine keep it airy, then smoky rock tea and dried grass in the drydown.

It is the fragrance we recommend to people who say they want something fresh but keep finding fresh scents boring. Sophisticated without trying to be.

Our TO SUMMER favourites: Osmanthus for the classic choice, Rambler Rose for floral lovers, and Triple Tea for something fresh with a smoky finish.

Which one should you try?

Sorted by what you already know you like, rather than by brand.

To go deeper on any one house, we have written at length on every TAMBURINS perfume, ranked and reviewed, on whether SHIRO perfume is worth it, and on how Le Labo, SHIRO and TAMBURINS compare if you are weighing them against each other.

A note on how these reach you

Every bottle here is bought in person by our personal shoppers from authorised retailers in its home city: TAMBURINS in Seoul, SHIRO in Tokyo, TO SUMMER in Shanghai and Beijing. They arrive factory sealed and in original brand packaging, with no customs to sort out at your end. Free delivery is available.

The trade-off is quantity. We buy what we can carry and what the stores will release to us, so the numbers are small, and a scent that sells through waits for the next trip. That is most true of Summer Tails right now. Nothing sinister in it, that is simply how buying in person works, but it does mean the good ones do not sit around.

Common questions

Which is the best-selling fragrance at SoJan?
TAMBURINS Chamo, by a clear margin over the past year, in both bottles ordered and revenue.

Which should I buy if I have never smelled any of these?
Freesia Mist if you want something easy and wearable, Chamo if you want something with more character. The Chamo 11ml is the lowest-risk way in.
